Missouri State Historic Preservation Office
IBEW Local 1's building located at 5850 Elizabeth Avenue is one of 40 buildings being researched for their contribution to Mid-Century Modern Architecture in the City of Saint Louis between the period of 1945 - 1975 and may be considered for more intensive investigation.

Designed by famous St Louis Architect, W. A. Sarmiento in 1957, our building was one of only a handful of private structures to make it to the final round of elimination with the Cultural Resources Office, who narrowed their selection from 2300 to 40!

We are excited to learn of our buildings significance to this transitional era of modern architecture and may consider seeking National Historic Landmark recognition!
